Terwijl Joke door drugsmisbruik afstevent op een afgrond weet ze niet dat Suuz zelf ook in de problemen is geraakt.
Gerie Smit is de auteur van de autobiografische roman Nieuwe handen, over de nieuwjaarsbrand in Volendam in 2001. Ze werkt als redacteur voor RTV-Noord Holland. Wilde haren is haar tweede roman.
