O oitavo volume da Coleção Pensamento Criminológico, "Criminologia e subjetividade no Brasil", traz três trabalhos da Professora Cristina Rauter. O conjunto de texto propõe discutir a criminologia brasileira enfocando-a sob dois aspectos: o primeiro texto "O nascimento da criminologia no Brasil" analisa esse tema, bem como a história das transformações dos dispositivos de poder a ele relacionado. Já o segundo trabalho "Diagnóstico psicológico do criminoso: tecnologia do preconceito" tem como objetivo a reflexão sobre os pressupostos em que se baseiam as avaliações, exames e procedimentos diagnósticos de indivíduos encarcerados, considerados "criminosos". No último texto, "Os carreiristas da indisciplina um estudo sobre a psiquiatria e seus "anti-sociais", é feita uma abordagem da psicopatia; as relações entre psiquiatria e justiça penal e seus respectivos papéis.
